129 Your statutes are wonderful;
therefore I obey them. David’s statement of fact about GOD’s word. It’s almost redundant, but it show’s how important God’s word is to him. He chooses to obey God’s word because he’s found how wonderful and meaningful it is. As a Christian, I have to come to that point and agree with David. I have to obey and realize how wonderful God’s word truly is.
130 The unfolding of your words gives light;
it gives understanding to the simple. God’s word is a lamp that brings forth understanding. It shines in the darkness of man’s attempt at logic and reasoning without acknowledgement of the creator. Wisdom comes from an understanding of the Bible. The Bible, God’s word gives us an understanding of ourselves in the view of the creator.
131 I open my mouth and pant,
longing for your commands. This verse reminds of Psalms 42:1: “As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God. ” Daveid has come to the point where he yearns for God’s word like a thirsty man after running a marathon. Or more likely, a warrior after an intense battle. Where he’s breathing heavily, and parched for just a drop of water. David is saying this is how he feels towards God and HIS word. As a Christian, is this a true statement for me? Do I crave it like a dehydrated man thirsting for something to fill his thirst?
